RTC Executive Board Meeting Minutes

Dear Retiree:

You have good reason to be proud of your years as a part of our educational system, and we know you'll want to maintain your ties with colleagues by joining the Retired Teachers Chapter of the BTU.

Your monthly dues deduction ($5.00 for teachers and $2.50 for paras) will usually start a month after we receive your application for membership. Our membership year runs from September 1 through August 31.

You can receive your information packet with an application for membership by calling (617) 288–2000 any Wednesday or Thursday between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. You must fill out an application to become a member. It is not automatic simply because you are retired.

Sincerely and fraternally yours,
Eileen Ganley, Chairwoman
Membership Committee

Retired Teachers Chapter BTU
Benefits of Membership

Eyeglass Benefit
Eligibility is established by being a dues paying member for two (2) or more years in an uninterruped, consecutive sequence immediately prior to the first use of the eye care center.

Only RTC members are eligible for a new pair of glasses.

Eye examinations will not be provided. You must bring a prescription from your eye doctor. The prescription must be no more than one year old.

New eyeglasses will be provided every 24 months provided there is a change in prescription.

The RTC, not the EYE Care Center, maintains eligibility for this benefit. The RTC will send you a letter, the first time you are eligible. This will include all necessary information in order for you to make an appointment.

Most requests will be covered: single lens or bifocals, glass or plastic, clear or tinted. Free adjustments and simple repairs to the most recent eyeglasses you received through the Eye Care Center will be provided at the Eye Care Center when time and materials are available. Adjustments and repairs will not be made to any other eyeglasses.

Contact lenses and cataract prescriptions are not included.

Eligible RTC members can purchase an additional pair of glasses at the Eye Care Center at their own expense. You may upgrade the eyeglasses offered under the basic plan. You may select anything that is available at the time. HOWEVER, you are responsible to pay the additional charge. PAYMENT is due the day you select the glasses.

All visits to the Eye Care Center are by appointment. Please call (617)288-5540 to schedule an appointment. CHECKS and CASH ONLY are accepted. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE accepted as payment.
